Charge and Mission
Charge:
The charge of the CENTER Committee is to assist Unitarian Universalist ministers in their professional development by offering continuing education programs. We do this primarily by offering a one day program (CENTER Day) during UUMA Ministry Days that precede UUA General Assembly in June each year. We recruit our colleague ministers as workshop presenters for our regular chapter meetings. We also organize the writing of short one page essays on useful topics and annotated bibliographies as resources for ministry.
Mission (April 2007 draft):
Ministerial formation is an ongoing process throughout the professional life cycle. The healthy practice of ministry is based on deep and regular reflection on our experiences in ministry. This kind of reflection happens best in the company of our peers; collegiality is essential to our ongoing professional development. We practice our ministries in a complex, dynamic, and multicultural society. The mission of CENTER is to provide opportunities for UUMA members to reflect together, learn together, and grow together in ministry. We are appointed by the UUMA Exec and we serve the members of the UUMA.
