Calling All Chaplains!

Several years ago, the UUMA received a request to strengthen offerings for chaplains, and in particular learning opportunities that could count toward the 50 hours of continuing education required each year to maintain your Board of Chaplaincy Inc. (BCCI) certification. We are delighted to announce that the upcoming Institute has a variety of offerings that “count” toward your CE requirements, including:
  • Skills and Pastoral Tools for Ministering to Addiction/Substance Use Disorder
  • Innovations and Challenges in Chaplaincy (virtual)
  • The Landscape of Grief
  • Trauma Informed Ministry in Troubled Times

Julica spoke with Beth Stalec, the continuing education and administrative coordinator at BCCI, to confirm that when you attend Institute, you can count:
  • 4 hrs toward the “professional self care” methodology (#4), as there will be plenty of opportunities to create a space for “spiritual retreat” and reinvigorate your ministerial call, AND
  • 5 hrs toward the “research” methodology (#8), if you attend “Innovations and Challenges in Chaplaincy;” PLUS 4 hrs toward the “attending educational events” methodology (#1), because the learning track is 9 hrs, so this completes the learning time (for a total of 13 hours of CE); OR
  • 9 hrs toward the “attending educational events” methodology (#1), if you attend “Skills and Pastoral Tools for Ministering to Addiction/Substance Use Disorder” (for a total of 13 hours of CE); OR
  • 6 hrs toward the “attending educational events” methodology (#1), if you attend “The Landscape of Grief” or “Trauma Informed Ministry in Troubled Times” (for a total of 10 hours of CE).
And remember funding is available from the UUA! Questions? Email Julica. She will be glad to help.
