We rely on hundreds of volunteers to accomplish  the purposes of the UUMA.  When you are ready to share your gifts and talents with your colleagues please let us know how you want to be involved. We also use member profiles to recruit for open and new positions, remember to visit the member center often to keep your profile updated so we know of your interests, skills and talents.

UUMA MFC Appointments

The UUMA appoints four representatives to the Ministerial Fellowship Committee (MFC). UUMA representatives to the MFC must be approved by the UUA Board of Trustees and serve as full members of the MFC. The UUMA Board of Trustees receives reports from and maintains ongoing conversation with our MFC appointees. In addition to their MFC responsibilities, UUMA appointed representatives hold responsibility for bringing forward perspectives and requests to the MFC on behalf of the UUMA.

Key responsibilities: Interviewing candidates for consideration of fellowship, reviewing and monitoring requirements for fellowshipped ministers, reviewing and adjudicating disciplinary cases, receiving waivers for candidacy and settlement, reviewing and revising the entire process and workings of the MFC and maintaining ongoing relationship with the UUMA as one of our representatives.

Skills needed: Emotional intelligence, excellent listening skills, expansive consideration in appraising candidates for ministry, excellent professional boundaries, ability to discern and communicate biases throughout group processes, and a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration with other committee members and UUA staff.

Length of Term: 2-year term with a limit of 8 years in full

The Time Commitment:

  • Attendance at all MFC meetings. Scheduled dates can be found on the UUA website: (https://www.uua.org/uuagovernance/committees/mfc)
  • Many hours of reading candidate packets in preparation for meetings
  • Additional time for working group responsibilities, process transformation work, and fellowship renewals, as assigned 

Meetings: The MFC meets virtually three times a year, plus additional meetings for working groups and other business.

The Tech Team supports the UUMA Staff in the execution of its programs. If you are interested in serving on this team, please reach out to Hannah at hfrancoisaacs@uuma.org.

The UUMA relies on volunteers to assist with events. These roles include setting up and breaking down, registration help, serving on the Chaplain or Covenant Care teams, etc. If you are interested in volunteering at the UUMA, please keep your profile up-to-date so that we know of your interests. We will also post volunteer opportunities on the website and via the weekly eupdate.
