Ways to Give

The UUMA serves ministers by creating opportunities for collegiality, continuing education, and collaboration which are grounded in antiracist, anti-oppressive, multicultural practice. To do this well, we need your help. Below are some ways to share your time and treasure to support the good work of the UUMA. See the Fund Descriptions tab for more information.

Legacy Giving

Giving a legacy gift or bequest is a central way you can support the future of our ministry. Legacy giving allows you to give to the UUMA while making sound financial plans for yourself and your family. You can make a gift via the UUA’s Umbrella giving program.

Giving Thanks

Many thanks to all those who have contributed to the UUMA Endowment Fund. Below are our walls of honor and appreciation. Thank you for your generosity!

Donation Funds

The UUMA is able to continue its mission because of your support and generosity. By contributing to a campaign listed below, you’ll help ensure that our work continues. Online donations are quick and easy using our secure credit card transactions. We welcome donations of all sizes and payment plans – whether it’s a one-time gift, a monthly contribution or part of a matching gifts program. The UUMA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Donations to the scholarship fund will assist ministers in attending UUMA Continuing Education opportunities such as Ministry Days and the Institute for the Learning Ministry. There are three subfunds under scholarships, members from marginalized communities, community ministers, and Entreprenurial ministers. You may designate your contribution to go to one of these subfunds or to the general scholarship fund. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

Thanks to a generous gift from the Anne Warren Smith Trust (Rev. Amy Beltaine, TTE), the UUMA has established a fund to provide financial assistance to Unitarian Universalist religious professionals who wish to access spiritual direction. Gifts from the fund will be disbursed to religious professionals who demonstrate financial need in accord with the following priorities:

  1. Aspirants and candidates in preparation for ordained and fellowshipped Unitarian Universalist ministry, especially those participating in the Ministerial Formation Network.
  2. Lay and ordained Unitarian Universalist ministers, especially those whose ministries are recognized by the Unitarian Universalist Society for Community Ministries, the Liberal Religious Educators Association, the Unitarian Universalist Musicians Network or the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association.

Funds must be used for accessing spiritual accompaniment with an accredited Spiritual Director who works in compliance with the professional code of ethics set forth by Spiritual Directors International or other equivalent body.

The General Fund is a great place to contribute to the UUMA. Donations will help to build our general reserves.

The Excellence in Ministry Fund was initially funded through the Sustaining the Call Campaign. Funds from this endowment ensure that the UUMA has the resources it needs to be responsive and proactive in training, connecting, and supporting ministers in a time of shifting needs and expanding possibilities.

During every budget year the UUMA very much appreciates contributions made from Life Members. In the past we have suggested Life Membership yearly donation of $125. We recognize that the financial position of retired ministers varies greatly from person to person. If the suggested amount does not fit your budget, please know that any amount would be gratefully received. In the past contributions have ranged from $5 to $225. Monthly sustaining memberships are available.

Contributions to the annual Celebration of Worship Service made in any given year through June 30. Contributions received after the 30th will be added to the following year’s service.

At this time this fund is not taking donations.

The Sustainability Fund provides small grants intended specifically for self-care and spirit tending – in whatever way is needed. The funds are available to ministers who are being especially impacted by the pandemics of COVID-19, racism, and oppression including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, Trans/Non-Binary and Disabled ministers, ministers who are actively caregiving children or elders, community ministers, ministers who are unemployed or underemployed, and ministers in congregations that have had significant budget cuts due to the impact of the virus.
