UUMA Nominating Committee

Answer The Call

Are you called to lead, grow, and serve our UUMA and our faith?
You may be the person the Nominating Committee is seeking.

LeadWe know you have hopes and dreams for our association and our faith. You can help lead the way toward making them real. Your contribution to our evolving collective wisdom can help us to become all that we long to be, together. If you are called to lead in this way, the opportunity awaits.
Grow As you already know if you have served at the chapter level or on a continental UUMA committee, the benefits flow both ways: leaders develop their professional skills, forge more profound connections to colleagues, feel closer to the source of their calling, and deepen their understanding of their faith. If you would like to grow in these ways, say yes to UUMA leadership. Your passion for our faith and colleagues will inspire you on the journey.
ServeThe past few years have been tumultuous and promising ones for Unitarian Universalism. In the UUMA, in the UUA, and in the settings where we serve, we as religious leaders have been striving and stretching to live into the call for justice, integrity and love. If you know that you were called to the ministry for just such a time as this, we want you. Commitment like yours will help all of us to be the leaders our movement, and our world, need right now.

Positions Open in June 2026

Board:  At-Large Governance and Widening the Circle, Treasurer.

Trustees provide visionary leadership for the UUMA and ensure that the vision is realized in a responsible manner. All Board members attend three face-to-face meetings per year (October, March, June), monthly Zoom call meetings, and additional conference calls for duties connected with individual responsibilities for a commitment of an additional 6-10 hours/month. They communicate often between meetings, and are present at many meetings throughout Ministry Days and General Assembly. With the exception of President Designate, all are three-year terms.

At-Large Trustee Widening the Circle:  The Widening the Circle of Concern Trustee ensures the Board continues to focus on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in our policies and our work together. This person ensures there are at least annual opportunities for the Board’s development in anti-racism, anti-oppression, and multiculturalism. (position description)

At-Large Trustee Governance: The Governance Trustee maintains the Board’s focus on creating, updating, and following its governance policies, including monitoring, connections to members and stakeholders, and linkage parameters for the Executive. This person also ensures the Board abides by the UUMA Bylaws. (position description)

Treasurer: The Treasurer works with the Executive as a resource in preparing the annual budget, managing investments, and ensuring fiscal review. This role offers insight and recommendations, as needed, for large monetary decisions, Executive staff salaries and benefits, and reasonable and customary accounting procedures. They also work closely with the Executive to monitor income and expenses, conforming to the limitations of the budget as a whole. It is the Board’s role to approve the Budget so it is vitally important that the Treasurer have a working relationship with the Executive.  (position description)

Nominating Committee: The Nominating Committee serves the UUMA to promote leadership which reflects the rich diversity of our liberal religious tradition. They affirm a culture of inclusion which calls each of us to deepen our commitment to our evolving collective wisdom and a willingness to participate in leadership roles in our UUMA chapters, clusters, and the Association. This committee also reports to the Board to keep it apprised of any issues they are facing. They recommend candidates for the Board of Trustees and Nominating Committee.
