Learning at Ministry Days
from Julica Hermann de la Fuente, Lifelong Learning Manager
Meeting the learning needs of a group of diverse colleagues who are in different ages, stages and social locations in their varied community and parish ministries can be challenging. For sure one size does not fit all, which is why this year at Ministry Days we are moving away from a Keynote address and instead continuing the small group discussion approach that we used last year.
As you have seen in our schedule, we are looking forward to offering a variety of options that meet colleagues where they are. Maybe you need to brush up on organizing skills, because fascism isn’t going to fight itself. Maybe you most need to practice collective rest as resistance, or gather in affinity groups to practice communal care.
The majority of our small group offerings will be hosted by colleagues who have graciously offered their skills and energy for the good of the collective. The two exceptions are the grief practice session, which will be led by the Rev. Rhetta Morgan and will be available online, and the lobbying field trip, hosted on site by our partners at UUSC and UUs for Social Justice. More information on these two options will soon be available on our website, thanks for your patience as we finalize the details for those offerings.
In your registration, you’ve been asked to identify your preferences for these learning tracks. In the same way that we understand you might need to pivot from in-person to online Ministry Days, we also know that you won’t know exactly what you need until you get there in June. It’s helpful for us to have a sense of how many folks are interested in each option; rest assured that you will have the opportunity to pivot and decide differently when you get there.
We are looking forward to seeing you online and in person in Baltimore. Questions about learning at Ministry Days? Reach out to Julica!
