Something For the Moment

Fill out this brief Google Form as soon as possible (no later than April 19) if you are interested in potentially joining the 2024 Musicians of the Living Tradition. Learn more here.
  • Welcoming a new UUMA Staff Role: Earlier this year we shared that our new staff structure would be shifting from two half time and one full time support positions to 2 full time administrative positions. We are pleased to announce that our Collegial Care Assistant, the Rev. Jan Taddeo, has accepted the revised, full-time position of Program Administrator. We expect this role to support both Lifelong Learning and Collegiality programming.
  • Open UUMA Appointment to the Ministerial Fellowship Committee (MFC): The UUMA appoints four representatives to the MFC. We currently have one opening. This is a high workload, high responsibility, high impact position. More details about the position and the commitment and skills required can be found in our Volunteer Center. If you are interested in being considered for this appointment, please complete our application. Questions? Contact the Executive Team

Jan TaddeoSomething for the Journey

Rev. Jan Taddeo, Program Administrator

When I shifted from full-time to part-time ministry in 2022, I wasn’t sure what I would do to meet my financial needs. I considered opening a shop on Etsy, providing couples coaching, leading Prepare-Enrich training workshops, offering meditation training, and several other possibilities for piecing together a reliable income. All those options felt sketchy, and would require far more time and effort than I had available while continuing to serve a congregation half-time.

As I considered my options, I spotted the opening for a Collegial Care Assistant at the UUMA. I was delighted to be invited to serve in that role. Since July 2022 when I began my service with the UUMA, I’ve considered supporting our collegial care programs as a ministry of sorts – doing what I coud to offer collegial care for our members through the programs I was supporting.

Now that I’m retired from setted ministry, I look forward to working with our new program staff and pouring more of myself into this new, full-time role. Program Administration is an opportunity for me to marry my pre-ministry experiences in program administration and office management with the opportunity to support my colleagues in ministry and pay forward the precious support I received over the course of my path to and through ministry. I’ve ministered to and with my colleagues in various roles – Good Offices, UU Trauma Response, Mentor, and Internship Supervisor. I relied on the training, resources, and collegial connections offered by the UUMA to serve in these capacities. Although my title is changing, and my role is growing, I will carry the spirit of “Collegial Care” into this next chapter.

Something for Formation

As a follow up to the Ministerial Fellowship Committee meetings with candidates this past weekend, the Ministerial Formation Network is here to offer collegial care. For folks who were welcomed into Preliminary Fellowship, we hope to schedule a conversation to help you navigate the shift out of the MFN into your new status and next professional moves (check your inbox for details!). If you were continued in candidacy, the MFN offers opportunities to get support for learning goals or to access mentorship, too. For some folks, the wait until graduation or a final contingency is met will allow us a chance to celebrate with you! Let Michelle know what the UUMA can offer and know that our collegial community is present “because we need one another” now and through all the seasons of ministry.
