A Pastoral Letter for These Difficult Times
We, as the UUMA Executive Team, have been wrestling with how to best support you, our beloved colleagues, in this tremendously challenging time. We are horrified and outraged by the violence being perpetrated against ordinary Israelis and Palestinians, especially against millions of innocent children. Our hearts break for the suffering of so many and go out to you, too, because we know you are impacted by this unconscionable tragedy while ministering to many.
We imagine that many of you are also wrestling with questions about what is needed from you in your role now. We feel that the best way we can help is to continue to support you as you navigate this time with your people: to hold you in love and prayer, to share resources, and offer caring connection as we all find our way forward with hope for the end of violence and a time of peace.
Spirit of Life and Peace,
Our hearts cry out in light of ever-increasing war and pain,
We pray for the end of violence and hate,
And for the onset of peace.
We ask for blessings on those who are suffering.
We pray that all may live in freedom and harmony.
Source of Hope,
May religion and culture not divide us but connect us.
May we grow together in our differences,
And shape a world where love and peace are at the center.
Strengthen us as we journey towards this vision of Beloved Community
Blessed Be.
