Content Warning: This worship service service wrestles with ableism in sacred scripture.
As a learning ministry, the UUMA continues to learn how to confront and counter ableism in our association. Some members of the disabled ministers caucus have recommended the book Loving Our Own Bones is an important resource for wrestling with ableism. The book was published by Beacon Press and written by Rabbi Dr. Julia Watts Belser who is a Starr King graduate, a professor at Georgetown and a disability activist. She will be delivering the Ware Lecture at General Assembly and we are looking forward to learning from her and extend the invitation to you as well.
Our Opening Worship welcomes the Rev. Dr. Jacqui Lewis, Senior Minister for Public Theology and Transformation at Middle Church and the liturgy offered by our UUMA Board President Rev. Leslie Takahashi. Camille Hatton is our Music Director.
