Institute for the Learning Ministry:
Proposal for Program Tracks
(Proposals Due May 9, 2025)
Your Institute Planning Team and UUMA staff are ready to receive your proposals for leading learning opportunities for your colleagues. This year we are increasing the options for the length of the learning tracks, in addition to offering options for both on site and virtual learning opportunities. Participants will be able to choose the duration of the learning track that suits their needs.
We are requesting proposals for learning opportunities in each of three durations:
- 9 hour learning tracks (6 slots – 4 on site and 2 virtual)
- 6 hour learning tracks (4 slots – 2 on site and 2 virtual)
- 3 hour learning tracks (2 slots – virtual only)
We invite applications for programs that relate to the MFC competencies, practical ministry skills at different career stages and innovative programs to support us all. Please note that we will once again be inviting ministry teams to attend the Institute and are seeking scholarship funds to support other religious professionals’ participation. We encourage proposals that will be especially compelling for ministry teams.
For example:
- ministry skills for various settings or congregational sizes
- spiritual practice & spiritual grounding
- supervision and leadership
- preaching, worship, liturgies & ritual
- ministry in a time of collapse
- ministry while parenting/ family ministry
- skills to meet the moment (movement chaplaincy, organizing, etc.)
Please note that we expect and intend to weave transformation and liberation practices throughout these topics, instead of offering them as a separate track. We especially encourage and welcome embodied learning opportunities that help us continue to shift our learning culture from an academic/cerebral experience to an experiential, co-created learning space.
We are looking for applications and nominations to help us deliver these learning opportunities. Do you see yourself or a beloved colleague leading one of these sessions? Please apply/nominate! Do you imagine something else for learning that our team has not included in this list? Please apply and share your imagination. Note that we also welcome nominations from outside our UU tradition/collegial spaces.
Application process: we look forward to accepting nominations and applications through May 9. The Institute Planning Team will then engage in discernment and select from what we know will be many excellent possibilities and finalize invitations and inform all applicants of their status by June 1. We look forward to sharing a transparent selection process with you upon request. Scroll down to complete the application form.
Payment:
- $1,800 total for 9 hour tracks on site or virtual (assumes 2 presenters receive $900 each)
- $1200 total for 6 hour tracks on site or virtual (assumes 2 presenters receive $600 each)
- $600 total for 3 hour virtual only tracks (assumes 2 presenters receive $300 each)
- Onsite presenters will also receive travel and housing reimbursement (meals on your own), for leading both 9 and 6 hour tracks
- Offsite presenters will receive a per diem for meals on the day(s) they are leading
Notes about honoraria and compensation:
- Please note all presenters must register for the event.
- These rates are informed by our Volunteer Honoraria and Compensation Scale, which has lower rates than our Scale of Fees for Professional Services. The Volunteer Honoraria and Compensation Scale assumes that members consider some of the time and energy they share as part of how they give back to their colleagues and their professional association.
- If you are applying to lead a learning track as part of your role with another UU Institution and are being compensated for your work by that Institution, the UUMA will cover any housing and travel costs not covered by your employer.
The application period has passed.
