Ministry Days Countdown Email – Onsite Attendees #1

Welcome to Ministry Days 2023!

We are excited to welcome you onsite in Pittsburgh, PA in less than a week. We know that this is a busy time of year so we will be sending lots of communications between now and when we arrive onsite. Today's email contains opportunities and requests to attend to now. We will send another countdown on Friday or Satruday with information you need to prepare for the program and a final update on Monday with links to all the communications. Please read through materials throughly and don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions! 

Call for Participation

Time with UUA President and Presedential Candidate: During Ministry Days we will have opportunities to have time with both current UUA President Rev. Susan Frederick-Gray and with UUA Presidential Candidate Rev. Dr. Sofia Betancourt. For both of these sessions we want to invite you to submit questions. To submit questions please send an email to Janette which either "Question for Rev. Frederick-Gray" or "Question for Rev. Dr. Betancourt" in the subject line. 

Wednesday Lunch Table Talks:  We are providing a simple lunch on Wednesday and are offering the opportunity for people to host lunch table talks. If there is a conversation you would like to have with colleagues at lunch on Wednesday, please let Hannah know. We will make placards to place on the tables to denote the focus of that table’s conversation. 

Dance & Game Night: If you have a game or two you'd like to play with colleagues, please feel free to bring it! Our silent disco dance returns this year. Please also send song suggestions for our silent disco by emailing Denise Cawley.

Navigating Ministry Days

Accessibility Information: The UUMA strives to make all of our events as accessible as possible for all participants. You can read through accessibility information here. Please remember that UUMA program spaces are peanut free and low-scent. There will be accesibility volunteers avaliable during meals to help folks navigate. Stay tuned for how to identify those folks! All main programming is in Ballroom A and we will provide a map to UUMA spaces prior to Monday afternoon. 

Virtual Portal: All participants will be given access to the virtual portal. We will be sending out access information in the next few days. Your login will be included in the email and will be different than your uuma.org login. 

Opportunities for Collegial Connection   

Caucus Time with Keynote Speaker: The Trans/Nonbinary/Gender Queer Chapter would like to invite our BIPOC and LREDA colleagues identifying as Trans/Nonbinary/Gender Queer or BIPOC to join us Tuesday morning at 9:30am in the Trans/Nonbinary/Gender Queer Caucus Space (Room 302 in the Convention Center). We have invited our UUMA speaker, Dr. Xiomara Verenice Cervantes-Gómez, to join us for conversation and an opportunity to get to know us a bit. We are excited to share this time with Xiomara and with all of you! Click here to RSVP (register) so we can know how many folks to expect. 

Baseball Game: Tickets for the baseball game were emailed today to the email address you used to register. If you have not received your ticket, please  with Urgent in the subject line. Access your mobile tickets via the MLB Ballpark app HERE. Add your ticket to your Google Wallet or Apple Wallet before you head to the game!

Choir Information: You can find a schedule of rehearsals and performances here. We are asking the choir to dress in black bottoms, white tops with a splash of color.

Beyond Ministry Days

Here’s your invitation to sign up for a GA booth shift for modest compensation! Mentor and Mentee? Vocational Advisor and Advisee? If you’re interested in continuing our collegial conversations across generations, sign up for a slot in the UUMA booth to talk with colleagues and General Assembly visitors. It’s a great way to share your inspiration and hopes for ministry!
