Something For the Moment

Something for the Journey
from Darrick Jackson, Director of Ministries for Lifelong Learning

A Blessing for Beginnings

At this time of year, many of us are having new beginnings. Some of us are at the beginning of the church or school year. Some are starting new roles and positions. And some of us have new understandings that shape how we will engage the world. We are at a threshold point of the year. And so, I offer this blessing for those engaged in a new beginning.

We come, again, to a beginning.
The start of a new year.
A change of responsibilities.
A new awareness of self and the world.

May we have what we need to navigate this time.
A loving community,
Strength for challenges,
Groundedness in the midst of change.

May we feel the presence of our healthy ancestors,
Our friends and family,
Our colleagues and compatriots,
And all those who loved us into being.

When things get rocky,
Remind us that we are enough.
Give us the confidence and the connections
To navigate a way forward.

When all around us is chaos,
Extend our roots deep into the soil
To drink from the waters of faith and values,
Nourishing us for the work ahead.

May we launch into this new beginning
Blessed by a Love that defies understanding.
Grounded and supported,
To face the challenge of each new day.

Blessed Be
