Membership Renewal Season: The UUMA membership year is July 1-June 30th but understanding that some folks need to pay their dues prior to the end of the fiscal year we can offer early renewals via request. If you are someone who can wait until July 1 please do so but now is a great day to login and update your salary & housing amount (must be a whole number) and make any necessary changes to your profile.

Something for the Journey

Leslie Takahashi, President – UUMA Board of Trustees

Here we are—in unprecedented times….again. As I end myLeslie Takahashi term serving our UUMA as president, the critical and difficult nature of our work seems so apparent. To chaplain in a world when so much care is needed, to build new communities in a world where so many are disconnected, to be part of congregations, often infuriating, which many of us still cherish—all of this can seem difficult to the point of ridiculous.

And yet…

And yet the caring and community and shared creations of our work is even more life-sustaining now. The scaffolding of sanctuary is our creation — whether the precious connection between two or the larger structures of community â€” which makes our ability to offer it to ourselves and to one another even more vital.

Our upcoming gatherings build the structures and test the strengths of our shared covenants. Our Annual Meeting and Ministry Days, provide opportunities to compare notes on the states of our souls and hearts while also sharing the vital nectar of collegiality. This nectar is part knowledge, part empathy and part joy at the opportunities to know one another. Please let’s partake together.

And, if you have any questions about the materials we will be engaging in through our shared democratic processes, please let us know by emailing the whole board. Great thanks to those who came and asked their questions at the Dialogue Session last week. We will vote on officers and also on by-laws which make our processes more clear and defined (including term limits for Board members). Important updates will be part of the mix as well.

Let’s keep building our own structures of support. Let’s replenish our own hearts. Let’s remember that together we are more.

Something Extra

Saying Goodbye When Transitional Ministry Plans are Unsettled: Friday, June 6, 2025 3:30-5:00pm ET/ 2:30-4:00pm CT/ 1:30-3:00pm MT/ 12:30-2:00pm PT. It is challenging to say a good goodbye to a congregation you have loved under any circumstances. It is even harder when transitional ministry plans are not in place and you do not know who will come practice ministry with the congregation you have cared for or when that might be. If you are in this boat, we hope you will join us to talk with others who are or have been in this unsettling situation.

CSAI for 2025: Congregational Study Action Issues are issues selected by Unitarian Universalist member congregations for three years of study, reflection and action. The purpose is to provide member congregations of the Association with an opportunity to mobilize energy, ideas and resources around a common issue. The end result will be a deeper understanding of our religious position on the issue, a clear statement of Association policy as expressed in a Statement of Conscience, and a greater capacity for congregations to take effective action.
