Fall Lifelong Learning Offerings at the UUMA

We are thrilled to offer a robust fall lifelong learning season at the UUMA. You can click the dates below to register for any (and all) of these offerings. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions about programming or registration. Click the dates below to learn more about each course and register. If you are an Aspirant or Candidate you are welcome to register for any of the following options.

UU Wellspring Program for Aspirants and Candidates:  Love at the Center
Sundays September 20 and 27, October 4, 11, 18, and 25, and November 1 and 8 at 4pm ET/3pm CT/2pm MT/1pm PT
This special partnership with UU Wellspring is well-suited to folks who are new to UUism and/or attending a non-UU school. This is an intensive program with regular 90 minute meetings, an expectation of work between sessions and companionship with a spiritual director. The program cost is subsidized by the UUMA and registration is arranged through UU Wellspring.

Fundraising for Ministers – A 4 Session Series
Tuesdays Sept 22, Oct 6, Oct 20 & Nov 3 at 4-5:15pm ET/ 3-4:15pm CT/ 2-3:15pm MT/ 1-2:15pm PT

Many UU ministers are doing the work of a development director without much training: navigating pledge drives, stewarding major donors, and trying to move a reluctant board toward fundraising, often all at once. This webinar series offers fundraising education that goes beyond formulas to address why fundraising feels so hard for ministers – and what to do about it. Sessions are grounded in relationship-based fundraising principles, delivered in plain language with practical action steps, and deeply respectful of the theological complexity ministers bring to conversations about money.

Sacred Reckonings – A 6 Session Series
Many folks requested this class be repeated in the fall – register soon to assure the classes success!
Wednesdays Sept 23, Oct 7 & 21, Nov 4 & 18 and Dec 2 at 4-6pm ET/3-5pm CT/ 2-4pm MT/ 1-3pm PT

We are living through a moment that many have described as “the modern re-articulation of the Doctrine of Discovery.” The forces of White Christian nationalism, a diseased distortion of genuine Christianity, are wreaking havoc on our communities and our democracy. Now, more than ever, we are called to embody the power of love through praxis that reckons with and seeks to repair these harms. This six week course will utilize the Sacred Reckonings Reparatory Eco-Map to focus on truth-telling, spiritual practices, relationships of followership, political solidarity, and wealth return as a lens to this current moment and a guide for how we might embody love in action.

Bough Breakers – BIPOC: An Ancestral Spiritual Development Container
Thursdays, October 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th at 8pm ET / 7pm CT / 6pm MT/ 5pm PT

Bough Breakers is an ancestral spiritual development container, built for small groups of BIPOC members ready to do the sacred work of remembering, honoring, and reconnecting with those who came before. This container is rooted in Rev. Mykal Slack and BLUU’s framework for ancestral work, offered here with that attribution and gratitude fully intact.

Each session is intentionally kept small, so that the work can go deep. This is not a lecture series. It is a container for practice, reflection, and the slow building of ritual capacity, one Thursday night at a time.

Healthy Boundaries 101 – A 2 Day Training
October 15 from 1-6pm ET/12-5pm CT/ 11am-4pm MT/ 10am-3pm PT and October 16 from 4-6:30pm ET /3-5:30pm CT/2-4:30pm MT/1-3:30pm PT

To serve in the role of spiritual leader is a sacred trust. Sometimes, without intending to, we exploit and hurt those we want to teach and nurture by inappropriately crossing boundaries. In this workshop, we will look at what every spiritual leader needs to know about relational boundaries, what boundaries are NOT, and how can we keep from violating boundaries inappropriately. This is an excellent offering for members in formation or anyone who hasn’t yet taken a boundaries training or needs a refresher.

The Grief Altar: Ritual and Practical Support for the Grieving
November 5th & 12th at 8-9:30 ET/ 7-8:30 CT/ 6-7:30 MT/ 5-6:30 PT

The Grief Altar offers participants both the practical grounding and the ritual language needed to move through loss with more steadiness. Drawing on Rev. JeKaren Bell’s work as a certified death and grief doula and ritualist, each cohort pairs concrete planning tools with embodied, sacred practice, closing with a full ritual participants can carry forward on their own.

Across two Thursday sessions, participants work through the practical and spiritual dimensions of end-of-life planning, from naming wishes and gathering documents to the harder conversations that planning invites. The cohort closes with a full ritual designed to hold and honor this work.

You can always access a full list of UUMA programs on our calendar (including our webinar on Coaching and Mentoring at the UUMA on September 8). We are excited to roll out a course catalog later this year and give you some sneak peeks of our Winter and Spring offerings.
